Talk Warmup privacy policy
Effective November 3, 2026. Operator: Lyravant LLC. Contact: support@lyravant.com.
No account, no ads, no tracking across apps, and we don't sell data. To hold a conversation, each spoken turn is turned into text (by Deepgram, through Lyravant's server; on iPhone you can choose "on this iPhone only" instead) and the conversation's text goes to Anthropic's Claude to write the reply and corrections. Lyravant doesn't store your audio or what you said; our AI provider keeps the text for up to 30 days (longer only if its safety systems flag it) and doesn't train on it. Your past conversations, saved words and review cards stay on your phone. Anonymous usage counts can be switched off in Settings, and Settings › Delete my data removes what our server holds.
Talk Warmup is made for iPhone and for Android. Most of this policy is the same for both; where they differ, it says "On iPhone" or "On Android".
What stays on your phone
- Your past conversations (the newest 100), saved words, review cards, level, settings, streak and progress stats.
- "Then vs now" recordings of your own voice. They're excluded from backups and you can delete them in the app.
- On iPhone, your progress may be backed up to your own iCloud (Apple's service for your Apple Account). Lyravant can't see it.
- On Android, your conversations, saved words, review cards and recordings are not included in Android's backup or in a transfer to a new phone. The only part of the app that goes along is the random Lyravant ID (see Lyravant Plus below).
- Pronunciation drills, review cards and the dictionary (tap a word for its meaning) work on the phone and don't use AI.
- Widgets show your streak, today's goal and a phrase to review on your Home Screen (on iPhone) or home screen (on Android). They read the app's data on the phone and send nothing; anyone who can see your screen can see them.
When you speak: turning your voice into text
- On iPhone, live captions are made on your iPhone with Apple's on-device speech recognition while you talk. On Android, they're made by the phone's on-device speech recognizer when it has one, otherwise from the partial text Deepgram sends back while you speak.
- Each turn's audio is sent over an encrypted connection through Lyravant's server (the Lyravant AI gateway) to Deepgram, which turns it into text. On Android the audio is streamed while you speak; if the stream fails, that turn's recording is uploaded once instead. If Deepgram fails, OpenAI's transcription API is used instead for that turn.
- Lyravant doesn't store the audio or the transcript on its server. Our requests to Deepgram opt out of Deepgram's Model Improvement Program, so Deepgram keeps the audio only as long as needed to process the request and doesn't use it to improve its models. When OpenAI is used, OpenAI doesn't use the data to train its models, and for its transcription service it keeps none of it for abuse monitoring (OpenAI's API data policy).
- On iPhone, choose "on this iPhone only" transcription in Settings and nothing leaves your iPhone for transcription; when you're offline, the text your iPhone made is used. On Android there's no such switch (phones' own recognizers aren't reliable enough for conversations), but you can always type instead of speaking.
- Pronunciation drills, saying a review card and the level check: on iPhone they use only the iPhone's recognizer. On Android they use the phone's on-device recognizer first, and send that attempt's audio to Deepgram the same way only if the phone heard nothing.
- The microphone is used only while you're speaking in the app. In hands-free mode, which you start yourself, it also listens between the partner's lines until you stop. On Android, an ongoing notification with a Stop button shows for the whole hands-free session, and the microphone is only used while the app or that session is running. On iPhone, the session shows as a Live Activity.
The AI conversation partner
- To write your partner's reply, corrections, recaps and feedback, the text of the conversation is sent through the Lyravant AI gateway to Anthropic's API (the Claude model): what you said, the recent lines of the conversation, your level, the scenario, your first language and the language you chose for explanations.
- Lyravant doesn't store this text; the gateway only counts usage (below). Anthropic deletes what it receives through its API within 30 days. If Anthropic's automated safety systems flag a request as possibly breaking its usage policy, Anthropic may keep that request and its answer for up to 2 years (and the safety scores for up to 7 years). Anthropic doesn't use this data to train its models (it would need our permission, which we haven't given).
- The partner is an AI, not a person, and it can be wrong: corrections are checked by a second pass before you see them, but mistakes can still get through. Don't share personal information you wouldn't want in a conversation's text.
What our server keeps
- A random install ID the app makes (not a hardware or advertising identifier), which identifies the app install to our server. It's sent with every request.
- Usage records per install: each AI request's kind, size and cost, and turns and seconds of audio per day, for the daily allowance, the fair-use limit and our costs. Never the audio or the text.
- A salted hash of your IP address (never the address itself), for rate limits, kept only briefly.
- On iPhone, an App Attest key per install: Apple's App Attest proves requests come from the genuine app. It identifies the app install, not you.
- On Android, Play Integrity: for each session with our server, the app asks Google Play for an integrity token, and our server sends it to Google to check that requests come from the genuine app, installed from Google Play, on a genuine device. We keep only the result (a session that expires within an hour, stored as a hash), not the token. Google handles the token under its own privacy policy.
- Replies you report, with your reason and note (see Reporting a reply).
- Safety-card records: when the partner shows a safety card (for example a crisis card with helplines), or a safety check flags a turn and decides no card is needed, a short record of it with the random install ID: the kind of card, the topic it was about (such as "self-harm" or "a threat"), the scenario, your level, which turn of the conversation it was and a coded reference to the partner's reply (a code made from the reply that can't be turned back into its words). Never what you said and never the reply's text. We review these every week to check the cards are shown when they should be, and keep them for 180 days; Delete my data deletes them sooner.
- Our hosting providers (Supabase runs our server) may keep short request logs for security.
Reporting a reply
Under every reply from your partner there's a flag: Report this reply. If you report one, the app sends our server the reply's text, the reason you chose, the note you typed (if any), the scenario, your level and whether it's the iPhone or Android app, with the random install ID and the same coded reference to the reply, so we can see whether a safety card came with it. Never your voice or what you said. We keep reports for 180 days to look into them and improve the partner, then delete them; Delete my data deletes them sooner. Only if our server can't be reached does the app offer to send the report by email instead (to support@lyravant.com, from your own email app, with the reply, the scenario and your level, and no IDs); we keep such emails only as long as we need to look into the reply.
Anonymous usage stats
With Settings › Share anonymous usage stats on (the default in release versions; test versions send nothing), the app sends counts of what happened, such as a conversation finished, a day's goal done, the app opened (with days since install), hands-free started or stopped, a league joined, created or left, a purchase started, completed or failed, and your plan, to our analytics provider, PostHog (its US cloud), under a random ID that isn't linked to you. PostHog also records the app opening and closing, with the app version, the phone model and its system version. Never audio, never the text of your conversations, never your name. Like any web request, PostHog receives the IP address the request comes from and estimates an approximate location (such as the country and city) from it. Turn the switch off and nothing is sent; Delete my data also resets the random ID. PostHog keeps these events for up to 1 year on its free plan, or up to 7 years on a paid plan.
Friend leagues (optional)
If you join a friend league, our server (run on Supabase) stores the nickname you choose and your weekly counts of finished conversations and minutes, which league members see. If you create a league, the league name you type is stored too and shown to the people who join with its code. There's no chat between members. Leaving a league deletes your entry. Don't use your real name as a nickname.
When usage stats are on or you're in a league, the app tells our server when you finish a conversation and how many minutes it took: for the league boards and our own daily count of finished conversations (totals only).
Lyravant Plus and purchases
- On iPhone, purchases go through Apple. Apple handles payment; Lyravant never sees your payment details, name or email. The app sends Apple's signed record of a purchase to our server, which verifies it.
- One Plus works across Lyravant apps. To make that work, the Lyravant apps on your devices share a random "Lyravant ID" kept in your iCloud Keychain on iPhone (not a hardware or advertising identifier). It's kept with your purchase records, and used only to provide Plus, never for tracking or advertising.
- On Android, purchases go through Google Play Billing. Google handles payment; Lyravant never sees your payment details, name or email. The app sends the purchase token and the product (monthly, yearly or lifetime) to our server, which asks Google Play whether the purchase is valid; Google also tells our server when a subscription renews, ends or is refunded.
- On Android, the app makes its own random Lyravant ID. It's attached to each Google Play purchase as the purchase's account ID (Google Play's "obfuscated account ID"), so restoring a purchase on any phone finds it again. It's kept in the app's settings, the only part of the app included in Android's backup and device transfer, and in Google's Block Store, so it survives reinstalling the app. Like on iPhone, it's used only to provide Plus.
Notifications
The daily reminder (if you turn it on) and the reminder 2 days before a free trial ends are set on your phone; we don't use a push service and don't learn when you're reminded. On Android, the app asks for permission to show notifications when you turn the reminder on, and hands-free mode shows its ongoing notification while it runs.
What we don't collect
No accounts, no ads, no tracking across apps or websites. We don't collect your name, email, contacts, photos, files, precise location, hardware identifiers or advertising identifier, and we don't sell or share data for advertising. The only location-like data is the approximate location PostHog estimates from your IP address, and only while usage stats are on. A weekly share card is an image the app makes; it goes only where you choose to share it.
How long we keep it
- Audio and conversation text: not stored by Lyravant.
- Usage records and finished-conversation counts: up to 13 months, or until you delete your data. IP hashes: up to 2 days. Play Integrity sessions: up to an hour.
- Purchase records (with the Lyravant ID): until 13 months after the purchase stops giving Plus.
- Friend league entries: until you leave the league or delete your data.
- Reported replies: 180 days, or until you delete your data.
- At our providers: Anthropic deletes conversation text within 30 days (up to 2 years if its safety systems flag it); Deepgram keeps audio only while processing it; OpenAI's transcription keeps none for abuse monitoring; PostHog keeps usage events for up to 1 year (free plan) or 7 years (paid plan); Supabase's request logs are short-lived.
How to delete your data
- In the app: Settings › Delete my data. Our server deletes this install's usage records, finished-conversation counts, league entries and reported replies, and unlinks your Lyravant ID from your purchases. On Android the app then erases everything it keeps on your phone (conversations, saved words, review cards, recordings, progress), resets the usage-stats ID and starts again with a new random install ID. On iPhone it starts with a new random install ID, and your conversations and saved words stay on the phone until you delete the app.
- So that the free daily allowance can't be reset this way, our server keeps one number: this month's usage total, under a one-way hash of the old install ID. Purchase records stay, without your Lyravant ID, for refunds and accounting, as long as stated above.
- Deleting the app removes everything on your phone. On Android, the random Lyravant ID stays in Google's Block Store and your Android backup so that Plus can find you again; it holds nothing about you, and Delete my data unlinks it on our server.
- Without the app: email support@lyravant.com and we'll delete what our server holds. Because there's no account, include your Google Play or Apple order number if you bought Plus, so we can find your records.
Your choices
On iPhone, choose "on this iPhone only" transcription. On both, type instead of speaking, turn off anonymous usage stats, leave a league, or delete your data (above) at any time.
Children
Talk Warmup is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. Conversations are kept suitable for teens.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and describe material changes in the app's release notes.
