Flashbulb guide
What's the best Quizlet alternative with no ads and no paywall?
If you want flashcards without ads or a paywall on studying, look for an app that keeps every study mode free. Flashbulb is free with no ads: unlimited decks, every study mode, exam dates, and AI cards from your notes (free: 30 pages in your first month, then 10 a month). Anki is free on desktop and Android but $24.99 on iPhone.

What to look for
- Study modes that stay free. The most common complaint in flashcard app reviews is a study mode moving behind a paywall, often right before an exam.
- Cards you can trust. AI cards are only useful if they're right. Look for cards that show the line of your notes they came from, and a review step before they join your deck.
- Spaced repetition. Reviewing each card just before you'd forget it beats re-reading. FSRS is the current best-known scheduler (Anki adopted it in version 23.10).
- Your decks, kept. Lost decks after an update or a login problem are another common complaint. Flashbulb keeps your decks on your iPhone (and in your own iCloud, if you sync), with no account to lose.
- A way in for old decks. If you're switching, check the app imports what you have: moving Anki and Quizlet decks.
Where Flashbulb is weaker
No public library of other people's decks (you share decks by link instead), no web or Android app yet, and the free AI writer is capped at 30 pages in your first month, then 10 a month. If you need ready-made decks for a standard course, Quizlet's library is larger.
