Flashbulb guide
What's the best way to study for finals with flashcards?
Make the cards early, then study a little every night instead of cramming. Give each course its exam date so new cards finish two days before, answer before you flip, take a practice exam about a week out, and spend the last days on the topics you missed. Twenty focused minutes a night beats a four-hour cram.

A two-week finals plan
- Day 1: make every course's cards. Snap or paste each unit's notes. Making cards is half the work, so do it while there's time.
- Group them by course and add the exam date. In Flashbulb, a course page counts down the days and plans each night, weakest topic first.
- Every night: one short session per course. Spaced repetition brings back the cards you're about to forget, plus a few new ones.
- About a week out: a practice exam. Questions written from that course's material, short answers graded by meaning. It shows which topics are weak.
- The last two days: reviews only. No new cards. Drill the weak topics, then sleep.
Habits that make flashcards work
- Answer before you flip. Saying or typing the answer is what makes recall stick; reading the back isn't studying.
- Be honest with "Again". A missed card coming back sooner is the system working.
- Several finals in one week? Give each course its own date. The nights fill with whichever course needs it most.
- Cut what isn't on the exam. Fewer, better cards beat a giant deck you never finish.
How long a night takes
About 36 seconds per new card over the first two weeks (each comes back about three times). 300 cards over 14 days is roughly 25 new cards and 15 minutes a night. The full table.
Questions
Is it better to cram or space out studying?
Space it out. Cramming works for the next morning and fades fast; reviewing just before you'd forget makes memories last through the final.
How many practice exams should I take?
One about a week before, then another after drilling your weak topics if you have Plus. In Flashbulb, the first practice exam in each course is free.
Can I study for several finals at once?
Yes. Make one course per class with its own exam date; each night has one short session per course.
